Beyond The Passion: What It Takes To Achieve Success In Business | Book Review by Cyrus Webb

Victor Kwegyir reminds us of the reality BEYOND THE PASSION in new book

When I first heard that author Victor Kwegyir was writing a book that dealt with passion, I was really excited. When I saw the book was entitled BEYOND THE PASSION, I was intrigued. Passion is something I have talked about a lot on my various platforms. I have referred to it often when talking about my path, but I had come to know that just having a passion wasn't enough---and that is exactly what Victor shares in his book.

All American Boys by Jason Reynolds & Brendan Kiely | Reviewed by Cyrus Webb

Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely's ALL AMERICAN BOYS is sure to change the way you see yourself and others .....

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." ~ Desmond Tutu

The quote above which I discovered for the first time in reading this book says so much about the community responsibility we all have towards one another. I have read literally over a hundred books this year, and I can honestly say that very few have impacted me afterwards the way that ALL AMERICAN BOYS has. Even though I am a 40 year old man of color living in Mississippi I have not experienced the blatant racism and discrimination that others have, but a book like this shows that you don't have to have experienced the events personally to be impacted and changed by them.

Book Review | Charley Hames, Jr.'s Pressing Reset : When Life Forces You to Start Over Again by Cyrus Webb

Charley Hames Jr.'s PRESSING RESET gives you the jumpstart to move forward with boldness

There is something validating about a book that reminds us our best days can be still ahead as long as you keep the faith and don't give up. PRESSING RESET is one of those books.

Dr. Charley Hames, Jr. reminds us through his personable style that whatever has come our way in the past doesn't have to keep us from the greatness that God has in store for us. Using the computer---something that ALL of us can relate to---as a metaphor for our lives we are encouraged to refresh, reboot and reset so we can be the best of our selves. "God give you both a power source and a home button," Hames writes. "You can always go back and start over. God allows you to reset."

Be an Icon: Discover How Ordinary People Became Extraordinary by Kenneth Nkemnacho | Book Review by Cyrus Webb

Do you have what it takes to be great?

That is one of the questions you will find yourself asking as you are reading Kenneth Nkemnacho's book BE AN ICON. What I love about the book is that it shows by example that being great and being an icon is not about being from a particular place or being born in a particular time. It's about being the best of yourself in all ways.

One Righteous Man: Samuel Battle and the Shattering of the Color Line in New York | Book Review by Cyrus Webb

Arthur Browne's portrayal of Samuel Battle reminds us of the power of one

"I am coming to believe that nothing can go farther to destroy race prejudice than the recognition of the Negro as a creator and contributor to American civilization." ~ James Weldon Johnson from ONE RIGHTEOUS MAN

Abandon: Laying Aside Your Plan for God's Purpose by Tim Timberlake | Book Review by Cyrus Webb

ABANDON shows us that if we are truly ready to let go we'll be in a better position to gain

When it comes to our lives sometimes we have to realize that it's not what we have that is important but what we need to give up.

In ABANDON author Tim Timberlake reminds the reader that each of us has the ability to achieve great things. The question is what are we willing to shed/abandon in order to achieve that greatness.
