Be an Icon: Discover How Ordinary People Became Extraordinary by Kenneth Nkemnacho | Book Review by Cyrus Webb

Do you have what it takes to be great?

That is one of the questions you will find yourself asking as you are reading Kenneth Nkemnacho's book BE AN ICON. What I love about the book is that it shows by example that being great and being an icon is not about being from a particular place or being born in a particular time. It's about being the best of yourself in all ways.

Kenneth lays out in the book how individuals have to be focused, drived and resolute in their journey to being the best of themselves. If they aren't then there is no way to be great or to do great things. For those who might have thought greatness or the ability to be extraordinary were out of their reach Kenneth says otherwise. He reminds us that all you have to do is work hard and dedicate yourself to the task at hand, and then you will be able to see the hard work pay off.

Though the book gives some great examples of what is possible we are cautioned not to focus too much on others. "Those who worship people because of their top positions in society don't have the confidence to pursue their own dreams and become better in life," he writes. "We should celebrate people, but we shouldn't worship...Without knowing your destination, even when you're given a roadmap, its essence become useless."

May we all work hard to be the best of who we have been created to be. If we can do that and don't give up or get distracted along the way, then being an icon is a given.
