Every New Year things always seem the same. Everyone tries to get fit, keeping the gyms packed for the first three weeks of the year. Everyone is talking about New Year’s resolutions- that many don't keep. Everyone wakes up on January 1st feeling that they have a fresh start to new possibilities. For some it’s a fresh start, to others it’s a false start, and to a few it’s a continuation of goals from the previous year that will finally be accomplished. To all, the New Year is a new opportunity to move forward, make changes for the better, and create a fresh start for another twelve months.
So what is this New Year going to be for you? Is it going be a fresh start? Is it going to be a year of manifestation of the promises that God has for you? Instead of making a New Year's resolution, why not ask God to guide you in your plans for the New Year. I say this because a resolution is no more than a decision. What good is making a decision if you have no plan to follow up what you decide to do? A decision is usually a goal to achieve or become, but in order for many of our decisions to become a reality, we must have a plan or a strategy. However, when embarking on a plan we must not let our mind hinder us from action. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11).
In your plans to go forth, fear and doubt have to leave. As you embark on your plans for the new year always remember the scripture, 2 Timothy 1: 7, which states, "For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind." Now is not the time to let fear and doubt rob you of what God has in store for you this year. You are stronger than you think and you have the ability to do what you need to do to reach your goals for this year. Old mistakes don't have to be made again. You have last year's experience to know what you want to do and what you don’t want to do. Just be obedient to your calling. Be obedient to your God given purpose, and although you may not see it, trust that God will provide all that you need to accomplish your goals.
God is all wise, all powerful and his fullness is infinite. Challenges are inevitable, but know that if you are in the will of God, you will always have God's provision. "But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)." That provision may be financial, it may be confidence, it may be wisdom, or it may be favor of men. Everything that you need will be provided for you this year. Don't doubt that! Remember that what you are embarking on is a God thing.
Fear is a method the enemy uses to paralyze us from our full potential. Remember who you are, whom you believe in, and why you believe in Him. Look at how far God has brought you! So be confident that where you are going is much better than where you have been. Encourage yourself and move forward in faith. Go into a new horizon of unknown possibilities, opportunities and blessings in confidence that God is right there with you, leading, guiding and protecting you.
This New Year is going to be awesome! It’s going to allow you to grow and it’s going to refine you even more than you can imagine. This year you are going to win! John 14:27 states, "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid." God has given you a gift this year - peace of mind and heart. With that, you can achieve the plans He has for you. It’s something that only you can do, and the blessings that are attached are for you only. Time to get to work, the New Year awaits!
